📍 Konzerthaus Vienna

Description

Dress code: Cocktail attire / business formal

There is no more fitting stage on which to open a Congress themed “Lawyers in Concert” than the Wiener Konzerthaus – one of the world’s great houses of music, where the Vienna of Beethoven, Brahms and Mahler still resonates through every hall.

Join us for the official Opening Ceremony of the AIJA Annual Congress, where our Congress Co-Chairs and the AIJA President will set the tone for the week ahead. This year the ceremony strikes a special chord: renowned conductor and three-time Grammy Award-winning producer Christian Gansch – who once performed some 200 concerts in this very hall – takes the stage as our keynote speaker, drawing on the striking parallels between a world-class orchestra and a thriving professional community: diverse voices, a shared score, and the harmony that comes from playing together. The evening is set to the music of the celebrated Janoska Ensemble, whose signature blend of classical brilliance and virtuoso improvisation will carry us from Strauss’ “Fledermaus” to their own inimitable style.

As the final notes fade, the celebration continues with a festive walking dinner throughout the elegant foyers and halls of the Konzerthaus, followed by an evening of music, dancing and connection – the perfect overture to an unforgettable week in Vienna.

Live Music Act By Janoska Ensemble

New directions in music are currently trending under imaginative names, fusion and crossover categories are constantly expanding. Yet, the classically trained Janoska Ensemble transcends all boundaries with its polyglot musical language. Their debut CD, JANOSKA STYLE (Deutsche Grammophon 2016), went gold within months, and their 2019 album REVOLUTION followed suit. In 2022, they released THE BIG B’s, and their fourth Deutsche Grammophon album, THE FOUR SEASONS, was released in autumn 2024, receiving widespread acclaim. The Janoska arrangements are a unique blend of classical and diverse musical realms, where the musicians’ spontaneous creativity results in innovative, electrifying music that feels alive. These captivating, audience-friendly transformations come from three brothers from Bratislava — Ondrej and Roman Janoska on violins, František Janoska on piano — and their Konstanz-born brother-in-law, Julius Darvas, on double bass.
